The TAG ---Techniques D'Avant Garde. The TAG McLaren Group was based in Woking, UK and its roots lie in the binding association between McLaren s and the TAG (Techniques D'Avant Garde). The TAG Group, which was founded in 1977 to concentrate on those sectors of the industry that pioneer advanced technologies and develop new products, became a major shareholder in McLaren International in 1985. The relationship between Group and McLaren originated in 1981 when McLaren Team Principal Ron Dennis and TAG's Mansour Ojjeh met and became friends. Group first joined forces with McLaren International in 1982 when it financed the development of a new Grand Prix Turbo engine. Built by Porsche to McLaren's specifications, the engine dominated Formula One in 1984 and 1985. TAG is the major part of the McLaren company and now TAG McLaren holdings own McLaren International, TAG McLaren Marketing Services (established in 1987), McLaren Cars (established in 1989) and TAG Electronics Systems (established in 1989). TAG also has an electronic system unit that is most distinguished. It was formed in January 1989 as an independent developer and manufacturer of electronic control systems and components for motor sport and other high performance automotive applications. It supplies a complete system, including electronics, components and off-car application and analysis software. McLaren has created miracles and won so many prizes. It has won eight Constructors' World Championship titles, the first in 1974 when it also won the first of its 11 Drivers' World Championship titles. McLaren's total of eleven Formula One World Championship driver s titles surpasses that of any other team in the history of Formula One. McLaren is the only team to have won four consecutive Drivers and Constructors Championships (1988-91). It also has 14 double wins from one pair of drivers, the highest ever in F1 history. In addition, McLaren cars have won the Indianapolis 500 three times, the Can-Am sportscar championship five consecutive times, and a McLaren GTR won Le Mans in 1995. In 1997, the McLaren GTR finished first and second in class, and second and third overall at Le Mans. When speaking of Formula One, people of course think of McLaren. The team has also won more Grand Prix championships than any other Formula One constructor since it entered the sport in 1966. Formula One is an intensely competitive environment in which McLaren excels at developing crucial technological advantages ahead of its rivals. As is known to all, cooperation does help a company to succeed. Thus McLaren has several partners around the world, such as Reemsma marketing (in the west), Mercedes-Benz and Mobile 1 (technology partners), Cannon (official supplier), TNT (associate partner), etc. McLaren is always improving and producing excellent motors for the world. It also pays much attention to service and communication. TAG McLaren Marketing Services (TMMS) was created primarily to service the marketing and media requirements of McLaren International, which keeps us in touch with McLaren all the time.
