Your teacher might not be as forgiving, you're right Wink

This discussion does not solve your problem. I am sorry. Ideas anyone?

Aruna,

One way of doing that is copying the required letters into your email. I don't have accents on my keyboard but I can cheat by copying Julien's list. Like this: :)

Alternatively, type your email in Word first. You can choose any accented letter from the Insert/Symbol menu.

Good luck and regards to your strict teacher! Smile

I posted this before, but cannot now find what I posted.

There is another way, but you will need a list of the ASCII character
numbers for the accented letters you need.

Engage the [NumLoc] key; while holding down the [Alt] key, type in the
character number of the required letter ON THE KEYPAD on the right of
the keyboard, NOT on on the top row of alphanumerical keys; release
the [Alt] key and voil, your accented letter.

For example:

is character 130
is character 133
is character 138

If anyone is interested I could post a list of the character
numbers needed for French (there are more than you might imagine).

Amicalement,

Cheemag

, ,

Here is one cumbersome, but workable way to do it. Write your message in MS Word. When you need a special character, go to Insert on the tool bar. Select Symbols and go to the font you are using. On the right is a box for diacritical marks and it shows the marks for all fonts. Insert your character in the text. When your message is finished, copy it and past it into your email or message board response.

Does everybody have Windows?

Another way to do it is to install a French keyboard layout. You will probably need the installation cd for this.

Windows 98 - Go to: Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Keyboard --> Language --> Add --> Scroll down to 'French (Standard)' --> Ok

Windows XP - Open: Control Panel --> Double click Regional and
Language Settings --> Click Languages --> Click Settings --> Pick French (Standard)
