--Chinese isn't very easy... I found it quite difficult when I was learning it last summer. The pronunciation of Chinese is unlike any other languages and the style of writing is very different as well specially if your native language is English.

--But if your native language is French, learning English isn't too difficult since the style of writing is very similar.

Surely you know the most important part.... Very Happy

Anyway I keep on my position that chinese becomes quite tricky when you start wanting to make complex statements, mostly because of the sentences structures and the correct use of words (most of the words in chinese have many many different meanings according to the context and their position in the sentence, so learning all the uses of a word is not that simple. Of course this happens in most language, but i find it quite harder in chinese.)

Bien sûr, ma langue maternelle étant le français, j'ai une plus grande facilité à le maîtiser (je veux être enseignante de français!). Par contre, on m'a souvent dit que cette langue est l'une des plus difficiles à apprendre vu sa grammaire et ses nombreuses exceptions.
That's all for today,
have a nice day! Smile

I really don't believe Japanese is all that difficult. Easy to pronounce, easy to read, easy grammar. No problem. But Chinese definitely seems like a daunting task for anyone from an Indo-European language background. At least for the speaking part, I mean.
French isn't difficult either. German is very close to English, so english speakers usually aren't presented with any problems learning it. It's rather easy when you have a good grammar book with you. People say the German language is extremely inflecting, but in reality, it all mainly falls back into cases: nominative, accusative, genitive, and dative.
Out of all the Asian tongues, I would probably choose to learn Korean, it seems the easiest since it has an alphabet.
