I need the French language expression for empty seat in the There is an empty seat at the dinner table ?

Can anyone help me out ?

With the context, I could tell you which one sounds the best.

Same difference than empty/free.

Thanks, I can read. That's not really what I meant by context.

Anyway, place libre = free seat, empty seat = place vide

With no further information, I can't say more.
