Question: Vous/pouvoir/examiner les empreintes

Answer: Vous pouvez examiner les empreintes

Is THIS right?

Also how do u know when to use or de

It is correct, but de or don't come in to it.

After a pronomial verb such as pouvoir you simply follow it with the
infinitive.

Possibly you mean whether to use de or before an infinitive,
which represents the 'to' in the English infinitive. For example:

C'est facile commencer <quelque chose>; il est difficile d'tre ...

Whether you use de or has to be learned I'm afraid. Some verbs
require neither nor de, e.g. Il est facile aller ...
